Another day, another giggle

This time change stuff is so disruptive! Yesterday we were late to school and today BARELY made it! Since I drive Carson and Maddie to school, it is all my fault. Oh well...

This morning we walked Maddie to the door (rather than dropping her off) and Carson got to meet all the little children in her class who are deaf. She is in a "normal" Kindergarten class with approximately 12 hearing children and 6 deaf children. After hugging a bunch of them (I just love Kindergarteners), Carson and I headed back to the van. Carson told me,
"Mom, one of the boys was asking me a question and I did not understand his
signs. I just did what I do with Maddie, I signed back YES. It works with
Maddie and it worked with him."

I then said, "Carson, what if he signed if he could hit you in the nose?" Carson said, "Oh Mom, he would not say that!"

I was again struck at how cool it is having Maddie in our family. She is "forcing" us to learn another language - sign language. This skill is really helping Carson's confidence! Furthermore, it is opening up our community of friends! Austin says that it will give him an entirely new dating pool - - deaf girls! :)

Have a blessed week. Please keep Berkley in your prayers. For his story, go to http://www.caringbridge.org/va/berkley/index.htm.
